As a smart user using beauty products, do not be fooled by the results before and after the use of a product. Several decades ago, mercury-containing products were popular for lightening or bleaching the skin. So since our skin is the largest organ of our body, it is important to treat it with extra attention and care.
First check the labels of skincare products, anti-aging, or other skin products that you use. If obviously clear contains “mercury” or mercurous chloride, calomel, mercuric, or mercury, then discontinue.
Secondly products that contain high mercury are usually recognizable from weird color or grey textures usually cream.
Third, make sure the products you use are registered in the KKM (Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia). Avoid using products labels that use foreign languages that you do not understand. You may refer about the possible mercury content in cosmetics products to the doctor / cosmetologist / pharmacies.
If you notice the current product contains the mercury, stop it immediately. Wash your hands and the affected part. Before you throw away or remove the product, make sure the product is properly packed so it does not leak.
